The Sokoto State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on Thursday described the appointment of Comrade Sani Umar, Abubakar Shekara and Labaran Lumo Dundaye, as Permanent Secretary, Managing Director of Sokoto State Media Corporation and General Manager of Rima Television, respectively by Governor Aminu Tambuwal as well deserved and charged them to be fair and just in the discharge of their duties.

This was contained in a statement signed by the state Secretary of the NUJ, Abdallah El-kurebe, a copy of which was made available to journalists in Sokoto.

The statement described the appointment of former chairmen of the union and Labaran, who is the current Chairman of the NUJ, as a good step in the right direction.

“They are professionals that have exhibited their wealth of experience in the development of journalism, not only in Sokoto state but Nigeria as a whole,” the statement read.

It called on the appointees to be selfless in the discharge of their duties selflessly for the development of the state.

The statement also reminded them of the need to work hard to justify the confidence reposed in them by the Governor.

The union therefore, commended Governor Tambuwal for his foresight in the meritorious appointments.
