WOMAN GIVES BIRTH,HELD IN HOSPITAL BY STAFF FOR FAILURE TO PAY HER BILL

Woman gives birth, held in hospital by staff for failure to pay her bill

Read below as it was sent in
A 23yrs old Miss Blessing Godwin, from Eket L.G.A in Akwa Ibom state is in urgent need of financial support to rescue her from her predicament. On the 28th of October, 2015, at about 6pm exactly, Mrs. Blessing was admitted in the labor room of Ilasamaja Health Center for child delivery. After several hours of delayed parturition with , the head nurse suggested that they  would transfer her with immediate effect to another Standard hospital as a result of unavailability of life saving equipment.
In a live interview with VOC NEWS today, Mrs. Blessing Godwin recounted her bewilderment, when she was told to leave the Ilasamaja health center “I was stranded because there was no cash on me. My husband and I stayed from 11pm to 4:30 am the following morning, before we could get assistance to take us to Isolo General Hospital ”.  At this point she broke down crying profusely. It took the effort of this reporter to console her before she continued the narration of her ordeal.  According to her when they got to Isolo General Hospital, it was another hard luck, as there was no vacant bed for her to be admitted. This incident generated curious attention as the nurse on duty suggested that, if she stayed one more hour, there would be likelihood, that the child might die in her womb.

The only solution left to rescue the poor girl was to rush her to a specialist hospital. Mater Christi is a specialist hospital located at 8, Bishop Okogie Street, off Ago palace way, Balogun B/stop Okota Lagos where the Caesarian was done successfully.  And she was delivered of a bouncing baby girl. But unknowingly to her, this was just the begin of her woes, as she and her jobless husband, Mr. Godwin could only pay N50,000 from the hospital bill, with an outstanding bill of N150,000. As a result of the inability to pay up the complete bill, the poor woman has been detained by the hospital management for the past 2-weeks, because she and husband could not afford to pay the outstanding  hospital bill.
We are calling on all well-meaning Nigerians andlovers of humanity to urgently come to the aid of Mrs Blessing Godwin. She needs the sum of #150,000.00 (One Hundred and Fifty Thousand) , to enable her offset  the hospital bill, so that the hospital management would  “release” her from  “incarceration”  . The hospital management was glad to receive the VOC News reporter; they confessed that it was a kind gesture for an organization to be interested in humanitarian acts of this kind .
The name and address of the hospital can be verified. Please call Mrs. Blessing Godwin now! 07018162451, 09038948316. No amount of money is too small. Remember that: your only worth in life is the good you do for others.

WOMAN CHARGE WITH TRESPASSING AFTER BITTEN BY TIGER

Woman is charged with trespassing after being bitten by Tiger

A woman in Omaha was accused of trespassing after sneaking into a local zoo and being bitten by a tiger on Halloween night. Jacqueline Edie, 33, is currently being treated for injuries on her left hand at the Creighton University Medial Center. Edie, who showed signs of intoxication and acted aggressively towards hospital staff, allegedly snuck into the Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium Saturday night to pet an 18-year-old Malayan tiger named Mai.

Zoo officials say that upon reaching into the animal's cage, the tiger bit Edie's hand and caused severe trauma. A friend then transported Edie to the hospital.
Police say the incident may have occurred at 4 a.m and it's is currently under investigation by the Omaha Police Department.
How Edie managed to enter the zoo is still under investigation. Executive director Dennis Pate told Sky News additional cameras are being installed at the zoo, which is currently staffed by 24-hour security personnel and equipped with computerized locks for entry and exit points.
Zoo patron Ron Hegg told Omaha.com the tiger's actions were understandable. "It's not like it got loose and attacked someone," Hegg said. "It was just protecting its territory."

DOHA, Qatar (AP) — U.S. first lady Michelle Obama on Wednesday called on the world to fund and promote societal change to support girls’ education.
Speaking at the 2015 World Innovation Summit for Education in Doha, Qatar, Obama said more needs to be done to ensure girls know their bodies “are a source of pride, not pain or shame.”
“Solving our girls’ education is definitely about resources, but it is also about attitudes and beliefs,” she said. “It’s about whether parents think their daughters are as worthy of an education as their sons. It’s about whether our societies cling to outdated laws and traditions that oppress and exclude women.”
Obama’s speech comes as part of her Let Girls Learn initiative. The program encourages world leaders to provide education opportunities to an estimated 62 million girls globally who do not attend school.
Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser al-Missned, former Qatari ruler Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani’s most high-profile wife, opened Tuesday’s event by warning about the educational challenges the Mideast faces amid wars and societal challenges.
“In this region, we are not only paralyzed, but going backwards at the speed of light,” she said.
Sheikha Mozah awarded the 2015 WISE Prize for Education to Sakena Yacoobi, the founder and CEO of the Afghan Institute of Learning. Yacoobi received a gold medal and $500,000.
Obama is on a two-nation visit to the Mideast this week. On Tuesday, she met Qatari emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and visited U.S. military personnel at the vast al-Udeid air base with comedian Conan O’Brien. She will travel to Jordan next.

CONTRIBUTING OP-ED WRITTER;LET REFUGEES SETTLE ITALY EMPTY SPACES

Milan — AS Europe frets over what to do about the hundreds of thousands of refugees pouring onto the Continent, it occurs to me that the ancient Romans, as they so often do, might offer a solution.

The ancient Romans used to reward their legionnaires with plots of land, through a system known as “centuriation.” The Romans adopted the system in the fourth century B.C., when Rome was still a vibrant republic. But it lasted for hundreds of years, involving former servicemen from all over the empire.
Centuriation had several advantages. The first was, obviously, strategic, as it created a permanent military presence. The second was economic: Veterans would farm uncultivated areas, produce wealth that went back into the community, and take care of themselves. The third was demographic: Those early pioneers and their families populated vast tracts of Italy and the lands beyond.

One particularly aggressive proponent of centuriation was Emperor Septimius Severus, who ruled from A.D. 192 to 211 and whose 400,000-man army was spread across an empire of 70 million people, from the Atlantic to the eastern shores of the Black Sea and from northern England to southern Egypt. Severus didn̢۪t want to leave his veterans idle, and when they retired he gave them plots of uncultivated or abandoned land, either free or for a very low price.

Traces of Roman centuriation are still to be found in southern France and parts of Spain, but most of those soldiers-turned-pioneers developed vast, underpopulated parts of Italy. The typical Roman layout of a square grid, appearing in the form of roads, canals and agricultural plots, can still be spotted in Lombardy, near Bergamo; in Tuscany, around Florence; in Romagna and in Campania. Around Padua, in the Veneto region, a large area is still known as “Graticolato Romano,” the Roman Gridiron.

Woman cut in half by bus which drove off leaving her to die on the road

A 70-year-old woman was “cut in half” by an out-of-service bus that failed to stop, leaving her to die in the road.
Carol Bell, who was walking with the aid of a wheeled walker, was crossing a road at about 6.15am yesterday in Brooklyn, New York.
The driver, identified as Paul Roper, was making a turn when he hit her head on.
“She was cut in half ... definitely in half,” witness Ramon Garcia said. “I tried to help her but she was too bloody. There was a lot of blood.”
Mr Garcia, 48, said he was stunned the driver failed to stop.

Police later obtained CCTV footage which showed the bus stopping momentarily but then continuing on.
“He just kept on going,” Mr Garcia said of the driver. “He never realised what had happened. It’s a big machine. I guess you don’t feel something like that.”
Police later arrested Roper, a 15-year veteran of the Metropolitan Transportation Agency, on leaving the scene of the accident and other charges.
"This is a terrible tragedy, and our hearts and prayers go out to all family and friends," Transit Workers Union Local 100 President John Samuelsen said. "We will closely follow the investigation, which is in a very early stage."
There are no bus routes at the corner where Ms Bell was killed but out-of-service vehicles are permitted to take any route back to their depot.

Indian man allegedly stole a Nigerian man's penis in Satellite Town (photos)

For those who believe it's possible for someone to steal another person's penis, here's a bizarre story for you with photos...me, I'm always on the fence about stories like this.. but I will report it sha! According to the story, an Indian supposed stole the penis of an Okada rider in the Satellite town area of Lagos on Saturday October 31st around 5.30pm. Continue to read the story...

According to the report, the Indian man pictured above came down from a bus heading to Mile 2 and asked an Okada man directions to somewhere in Satellite town. The Okadaman offered to take him to his destination in his bike and on getting to the gate just before Navy town, the Indian man asked the okada man to stop that he'd arrived at his destination. He then paid the okada man more than he asked for for the trip and as he made to leave, the Okadaman discovered his manhood was missing.

He ran after the Indian man and started shouting which attracted the attention of others and his fellow okada riders. They even started beating him without anyone confirming. Na wa! Watch the video below...
